Your Client's Retirement: What Every Advisor Needs to Understand

The challenge that advisors have is a lack of understanding of important retirement issues that will affect the advice that they provide. Most believe that retirement is a financial issue and that all a client needs to do is to achieve their "number" or the amount they will need to feel secure financially. In fact, their clients share this misunderstanding, which can often result in "the blind leading the blind".

For CSA's in the audience, there is a general understanding of aging issues but not always how to implement this knowledge in their relationships with clients. This session will help them tie their knowledge gained through the CSA program to how their clients think, act and make decisions on their money and their life.

Barry will look at the six keys to a successful retirement, based on extensive research that he and his organization has conducted with attendees at his workshops over the past twenty years. In addition, he will talk about the latest research from positive psychology on retirement happiness and the ideal personality to handle retirement.

Barry LaValley believes that the retirement advisor is more a coach than an advisor. He will devote part of his presentation on what that actually means and how the advisor can effectively work with clients entering into retirement or trying to get the most out of this next phase of life.
