In this webinar, attendees will learn about the various tools and resources LeadingAge CAST has developed and published to help providers understand, plan for, select, implement, and adopt the appropriate technology while advocating for innovative care models. During the presentation attendees will see hands-on online demonstrations of a few of the CAST tools, including Safety Technologies geared to keep frail older adults safe and independent, as well as Social Connectedness/Engagement Technologies that help combat social isolation and support quality of life for all older adults. 

Learning Objectives of the Presentation: 

• Learn about the Technology Selection Tools that LeadingAge CAST has developed to facilitate the adoption of appropriate technologies by older adults, caregivers and aging services provider, as well as Strategic IT Planning and Cyber Security Tools. 

• Explore the range of safety technologies and social connectedness/engagement technologies available. 

• Learn what functions and features to look for when selecting a technology including examples of safety technology solution and social connectedness/engagement solution. 

Majd Alwan, Ph.D., a noted researcher and authority on aging-services technologies, is LeadingAge’s senior vice president of technology, and executive director of the LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST). Dr. Alwan is responsible for creating and leading a network of technology companies, providers and research institutions focused on technology solutions for an aging society. 

Scott Code, Associate Director of LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technology (CAST) assists with shaping and executing CAST’s strategies and work plans to expand and lead CAST’s network. He is responsible for increasing CAST’s exposure and coordinating technology initiatives that aim to identify barriers and opportunities to facilitate the use of technology in an aging society.
