Tough Love: Grab Bars Are the New Seat Belts

This session will cover several topics including a discussion of the current market segmentation and the approaches that are successful or perceived to be successful in reaching the baby boomer marketplace. The other generational cohorts (the matures, the Xers, the millennials) will be addressed.

The overarching theme of the presentation will be “tough love” - a practical, humorous, diplomatic, strategic approach to engendering action to preserve the home environment and ourselves. The $60B annual cost to the health care system in America for the treatment of falls and fall related injuries is staggering and largely preventable. As business owners, especially those with employees and providers in the home setting, our obligation to promote safety is vital.

The session will also review the practical solutions and the new technology solutions for homes. The speed at which new products, and therefore,new services are coming to market is unprecedented. The application of the solutions has demonstrated cost savings and longevity improvements and the goal is to empower the attendees with tools, ideas and enthusiasm.
