General Session Speakers


Joseph W. Jordan

Joe Jordan, inspirational speaker and behavioral finance expert, is the author of the award-winning book Living a Life of Significance. The book has sold over 100,000 copies, is translated in five languages and was
featured in Nick Murray's "The Advisor's Essential Library."

Formerly, Joe ran insurance sales at Paine Webber and more recently was a senior vice president at MetLife. He was responsible for retail product development and started their fee-based financial planning program
and behavioral finance department.

Wesley Cheng

Wesley Cheng is the founder and executive director of, a California 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that connects older adults to each other through their participation in interactive group activities from comfort of home using tablets. He also started the PBC Village, a virtual village that serves the practical needs of over 80 older adults. 

He is a high tech entrepreneur who co-founded KonaWare, a wireless applications company for mobile devices, in 2001, which was eventually sold to GPS pioneer Trimble. He then founded HabitatCare, a research and consulting company that focused on aging-in-place technology solutions. Wesley has also spent 16 years in technical management positions at Hewlett-Packard and Cisco Systems.

Harlan J. Accola, CRMP, CSA

Harlan Accola has been in the mortgage industry for over 20 years and has worked with all types of loans. His specialty and favorite has always been working amongst the 62 plus age group with over 1,000 Reverse Mortgages which has been the most rewarding part of his career. He is now the Reverse Mortgage Director for Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation.

His presentations will give you a very different perspective. He often asked his clients and professional partners, “If what you thought you knew about mortgages and financial planning was wrong, when would you want us to tell you?”

Stephen Anderson

Stephen has been a digital marketing, sales and operations leader. A strategist at heart, he has built high performing solutions for brands large and small across challenging industries such as Insurance, Travel and Personal Finance. As Head of Growth at Seniorly, Stephen draws on this experience to help families, agents and senior living communities effectively connect enabling the best possible outcomes. In his free time, Stephen enjoys playing in the mountains and oceans with his wife, son and daughter and beloved mutt, Manny.

Lynell Bond, MEd, LSW, LPC

Lynell Moses Bond is a licensed social worker and licensed professional counselor.  She is from Fort Worth, Texas.  She has worked with older adults for over 25 years. Lynell was the Vice-President of Client Services for Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County where she supervised many case managers.  She developed many resources to assist clients, families, and caregivers.
Lynell has presented at several conferences about case management, grief issues, dementia, and dealing with difficult behaviors in clients.
Lynell lives with her husband, and near her two children and two grandchildren and all of her siblings.  The most unique thing about her is that she never watches television.

Tom Breedlove, MBA

Tom brings more than 30 years of business experience, including more than a decade as Director at Breedlove & Associates – now known as HomePay – the nation's leading household employment specialist. Co-author of The Household Employer’s Financial, Legal & HR Guide, Tom has led the firm’s education and outreach efforts on this complex topic. His work has helped HomePay become the featured expert on dozens of TV and radio shows as well as countless business, consumer and trade publications.

Melinda Caughill

For more than 15 years, Melinda has worked in the Medicare landscape – helping to provide the nation’s home healthcare companies with educational tools and resources they need to comply with changing Medicare regulations, and now helping consumers to get the expert, unbiased Medicare guidance they need to avoid costly, permanent mistakes. Linda Cohen, MA

Linda Cohen, MA also known as the “Kindness Catalyst”, is a professional speaker and the author of 1,000 Mitzvahs: How Small Acts of Kindness Can Heal, Inspire and Change Your Life. Cohen works with associations on the ROI of Kindness. Cohen is the past president of the National Speakers Association Oregon Chapter. She lives in Oregon with her husband. They have two children and two King Charles Spaniels. She practices yoga and loves a good cup of Earl Grey Tea.

Aisha Bonner Cozad, PhD

Aisha Bonner Cozad is a Senior Research Advisor who works with AARP internal clients to consult with them on their research needs for 50+ populations. Aisha knows the power of compelling and strategic insights on the needs and trends impacting the 50+ and aims to be the clients go to resource for helping them understand the 50+.

Aisha holds a Doctorate in Gerontology and Public Policy from Howard University.

Mickey Batsell, CLU, CASL, MBA, FLMI, CLTC, CSA

Mickey Batsell is an experienced industry professional, specializing in long-term care, retirement planning and surrounding issues including Medicare, Medicaid, home healthcare, nursing homecare, wealth transfer, and the selection of long-term care facilities  With over 40 years of professional, and more importantly, personal family experiences, Mickey has an in-depth understanding of the challenges his clients face. Jennifer Crowley, RN, CLCP, CADDCT, CDP

Jennifer’s experience includes over 20 years of work as a Registered Nurse and she currently holds international certification in Life Care Planning and is a Medicare Set-Aside certified consultant. Jennifer is a long-term care planning expert, having testified in numerous catastrophic injury cases to help all parties understand the long-term care needs through life expectancy.

Don Desonier, JD, CSA

Don Desonier, JD (Ret), Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)®, provides individual coaching, family facilitation and mediation services to caregivers and families of loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. His journey to this professional calling is rooted in having been a caregiver to his wife Nancy, who was diagnosed with early-onset dementia in 2008, and passed away from this illness in 2012.

Don has a Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Washington Professional and Continuing Education Program. He also has a Juris Doctor degree, and has been trained as an Elder and Adult Family Mediator.

Cindy Eisenhower, CLTC

Cindy Eisenhower is a successful Long-Term Care sales professional. Cindy works with all traditional and hybrid long-term care solutions. Cindy developed the first suitability training module approved by the State of California to comply with Assembly Bill 281. The training is approved for 4 hours of continuing education. Cindy previously represented John Hancock as a National Training Director. She covered 28 states educating Financial Professionals on how to successfully market long-term care insurance. Prior to John Hancock she represented MetLife as the Director of Long Term Care for their Western Region where she increased sales in her territory by 277%. Prior to that she represented New York Life Insurance Company as their Pacific Zone Wholesaler for Long Term Care. She joined New York Life in 1995 as an agent. 

In addition to her success with Long Term Care, Cindy has many years of business management experience through her 20 years as a banker in San Francisco. Cindy is a Board member of the Caregivers Foundation of America and a board member of the Gilead House in Novato, CA.

Colette Florido

Colette Florido is the founder and President of CR World, Corp.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and Spanish from Bradley University. She often speaks to groups to educate them on the benefits of the cannabis and hemp plant to promote healthy living. CR World launched in January of 2017, a company destined to become the trusted source in health-focused hemp and cannabis products, working in a small group direct selling format with the rapidly growing active adult and senior population.

Cynthia Healy, CPA, CFE, CSA

Cynthia Healy is a longtime trustee to clients who are confident in her ability to manage their money and confident in her respect of their interests and independence. 

A CPA for 35 years, Cynthia recognizes the need to lend a voice to those not able to speak for themselves, be it in management of money, health, home or family relations.  As a trustee, she combines oversight of her clients’ finances with advocacy to support their engagement in life-impacting decisions.

Cynthia’s recent work includes teaching others how to frame sensitive conversations with seniors to maintain a positive focus with productive results.

Becky Johnson CFP®, CSA, CEP

Becky Johnson has been in the financial industry for over 34 years. She has worked in multiple financial disciplines. Her love of working with seniors began in 1989 while helping a farm family think though how to transfer the estate to the children in an efficient, private and cost minimizing way. 

She now specializes in end of life financial planning, and helping families face the inevitable. There are things to look for and things to avoid.  Her presentation is based on common sense easy to understand financial principles. Committed to high work ethics with respectful and confidential financial coaching.

Jay Kweskin, CSA

Jay Kweskin is the owner operator of KwesCare LLC, a care management company the serves the St. Louis Missouri Metro area.  Jay has worked with the Society of Certified Senior Advisors for the CSA Certification Examination Committee and has served on the Program Committee for the CSA Conference.  Jay is the chairman of the CSA St. Louis Leadership group and a member of the Aging Life Care Association.  He is a former board member of Covenant Place a community for older adults in St. Louis and active in various other local community groups.

Jeanette Leardi, MA

Jeanette Leardi, M.A. is a social gerontologist, writer, editor, and community educator who has a passion for older adult empowerment and finds special personal fulfillment helping Boomers and older generations identify and share their wisdom with others. Her publishing experiences include staff positions at Newsweek, Life, People, Conde Nast Traveler, and Sesame Street magazines and The Charlotte Observer. She has a Master’s Degree with Honors in English from Rutgers University and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She gives popular presentations and classes in journaling, spiritual writing, memoir writing, personal mythmaking, ageism, brain fitness, health self-advocacy, intergenerational communication, and caregiver support to people of all ages and is a regular contributor to Stria, 3rd Act Magazine, and Dr. Bill Thomas’ ChangingAging blog. Josephine Levy, MA Gerontology

Josephine Levy works at Beatitudes Campus, a non-profit Life Plan Community in Phoenix, AZ that serves approximately 700 older adults. Her role includes assisting residents with life planning documents and financial supports, making connections to trusted community resources, and educational programming. She holds Master’s Degrees in both Gerontology and English, and her interests include development of social supports and physical environments that promote meaningful growth and engagement throughout our lives. She is a CSA, a Medicare SHIP Counselor, and holds both the USC Executive Certificate in Home Modification and the Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) designation.

While she thoroughly enjoyed her past life as a teacher, Jessica was drawn to the occupational therapy (OT) profession because it affords practitioners an opportunity to help individuals and populations live their lives to the fullest through a broader, mind-body-spirit capacity approach.  After embarking upon her career in occupational therapy with the expectation of working with young adults, Jessica was increasingly attracted to the idea of engaging older adults in areas of advocacy, accessibility, and overall well-being.

 Cynthia Nelson, JD

Cindy was an executive in the corporate world in Atlanta when she wanted to change her career to an area where she was giving backing to the community. She decided to go to law school and was accepted, along with her son, Josh, at the University of Southern Illinois. While in law school, Cindy learned about the difficulties many people faced as they aged.  She also discovered there were legal solutions available to seniors that many people didn’t know about. Cindy focused her studies and compassion around helping to protect people and their assets as they age.

She has become active in various organizations dedicated to elder care and is a regular speaker in the community.  She is committed to helping families to protect themselves and their loves ones from the legal and financial curve balls of getting older.

Darra Wray, MBA, CSA

Darra Wray is a business professional with an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and more than 25 years of practical business and finance experience.  Darra also has over 25 years of personal experience as a family caregiver and patient advocate and has had a life-long interest in healthcare.  She developed a true passion for family care giving and elder care services through her personal life experiences. She became a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) in 2018 and founded My Care Companions™ to develop resources, services and tools for family caregivers.
