Guest Speaker:  Chris Maeoka, Director of Aging Care Services

Jewish Family Service

Chris Maeoka, MBA, is the Director of Aging Care Services  at Jewish Family Service of San Diego. Aging Care Services connects older adults, their families and care partners with care coordination, resources and additional supportive services within JFS.

Chris was originally a volunteer driver for On the Go at JFS.  Through her own personal experiences with her aging mom, she found her passion for keeping older adults engaged and supported.  Prior to joining JFS, Chris spent time working with the Village Movement for Older adults and helped to develop a tech platform for seniors. In November 2016 Chris became the JFS North County Older Adult Coordinator and supervised programs in the Poway/Rancho Bernardo and Encinitas areas.  In August of 2017 Chris began to oversee operations of the older adult social and wellness centers: College Avenue Center and Balboa Avenue Older Adult Centers, a day program for mild cognitive impairment. In July of 2020, Chris was promoted to her current Director role.

Through her insight as a primary caregiver, Chris has been better able to identify gaps in service.  For the last few years, she has also been on the Advisory Council of the SD County Aging and Independent Services and is currently the Nutrition Committee Chair and slated to be First Vice Chair of the Council starting September 2020.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys trying new things and spending time with her son, Kanoa and brand new puppy, Smokey (the bear).
