Can you compare the cost of assisted living communities apples to apples? I’m sorry to say the short answer is…. not really. Most families who are tasked with finding senior living and care not only want to make sure they’re getting good care but that they are also being good stewards of their loved one’s money. In this session, we’ll explore why it’s not possible to make an apples to apples comparison, what families can do to lessen cost and two strategies to get close to a useable cost comparison. We’ll discuss the 3 main cost factors including apartment rent pricing, annual increases and care costs. We’ll look at how communities calculate pricing in each of these areas including the use of a real estate pricing strategy and the nurse assessment. 

After all your hard work comparing cost, remember that assisted living communities are businesses. They have overhead and bills to pay and they reserve the right to change their policies on pricing at any time. They also reserve the right to work with you and families have the right to ask for what they need. After this session, you’ll have a greater understanding of the pricing structure in assisted living and tips to help navigate this often frustrating part of the journey to finding senior living and care.
