Meeting/Program Information

 Program Title: Meet NextFifty Initiative, Colorado’s new funder in aging

Description: NextFifty Initiative was created in 2016 to fund game-changing, innovative ideas that hold the promise of improving the experience of aging in Colorado and the nation. In this presentation, Margaret will explain the genesis of Next50, outline the funding interests and discuss a new vision for aging and how we might get there through community & philanthropy partnerships.

Overall Goals, Main Points and/or Learning Objectives:
1. Explain the changing demographics of Colorado and identify why aging Americans are a new priority.
2. Provide background on the creation of NextFifty Initiative and its grant-making priorities
3. Discuss a new vision of aging in America in which new systems, technologies and methods to keep people engaged in community life as they age.

Speaker: Margaret Franckhauser is the CEO of NextFifty Initiative, a new grantmaking foundation dedicated to funding aging interests with a goal of transforming aging. Margaret is a nurse practitioner by background and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health. She has served in clinical and administrative roles in both urban and rural settings. Before arriving in Colorado, Margaret held the position of CEO of a community health and social service organization in New Hampshire. Her background also includes experience working with two philanthropic organizations.
