Meeting and Program Information

Program Title: Your Countdown to Retirement: 10 essential non-financial planning steps for the transition from working to not working and beyond

The presentation provides an overview of 10 essential, yet often overlooked, planning steps for staying happy, healthy, productive, and fulfilled in retirement. The boomer generation is the first generation to expect to have 20, 30 or 40 years of life after we stop working. This presents and extraordinary opportunity to change how aging and the aged are perceived in our culture. By reigniting passion and purpose, boomers can revive movements started in their youth to make the world a better place for future generations.

Presenter:   Kathryn Severns Avery, Owner, What’s Next for Boomers, LLC

Kathryn Severns Avery, Certified Senior Advisor, is a retirement readiness expert, author, and coach whose first-hand experience with retirement altered almost every aspect of her life. When her husband, Chris, retired they thought they were prepared for the experience. What they learned during the transition from working to not working and beyond made them acutely aware of the lack of non-financial retirement planning information for baby boomers. Driven by a deep desire to help other boomers avoid the headaches, heartaches, and pains in the pocketbook they experienced, Kathryn wrote Your Countdown to Retirement: The Pre-Retirement Planning Guide That’s NOT About Money. The companion life planner for the book has just been published. Last year Kathryn opened the first of its kind What’s Next for Boomers? Life Planning Center to offer ideas, inspiration, coaching and classes for boomers contemplating retirement.
